Chris Pratt's ascension into a bonafide movie star happened due to his role in a trio of franchises: Guardians of the Galaxy, Jurassic World, and The Lego Movie. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were tasked past crafting a follow-up, and recently told CinemaBlend's Eric Eisenberg some of the ideas that got scrapped on the way to theaters-- including a sequence set in a Lego convention. As Lord told it,

We started past this idea of, lets try to say a story from the brothers reduction of view, and the sisters reduction of view at the thesame time. And see what its past past their two imaginations happen to come together. That was sort of the basic thing. There were supplementary thoughts in there, there was a comprehensive set fragment at a Lego convention. But ultimately it in point of fact felt past the story needed to acknowledge area in their home. And that the stairs in the company of the basement and the sisters room was past the main dome for them to play a role in. It got a bit big. And it floating the focus on this brother and sister full of life that seemed to be the heart of the movie.
